Associate, Industrial Relations

This role will manage misconduct reported and poor performance cases, improve IR awareness and knowledge among reporting managers and employees, and handle employee grievances in an effective and efficient manner so as to preserve good employee relations and industrial harmony.

Your Responsibilities: (What is this role all about? What does the applicant have to do?)

  • Managing disciplinary issues by conducting disciplinary inquiry where an allegation of misconduct has been reported i.e. preliminary investigation, interviewing witnesses/ accused employee, collate information/ data, draft and issue show cause letter or punishment letters, case preparation for domestic inquiries and recommend appropriate disciplinary action whenever required.
  • Managing poor performance by reviewing counseling forms, assess and determine the need to place a poor performing employee in the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
  • Conduct IR related workshop/ training for reporting managers and employees and for on-boarding programmes.
  • Organize briefing and training programmes by external vendors on IR matters for reporting managers and employees.
  • Advise and provide consultation to reporting managers and agencies on DiGi policies and procedures on poor performance management, misconduct in employment, disciplinary inquiry, disciplinary action and appeals.
  • Update, revise or implement policies and procedures as and when required by DiGi and in accordance with the law.
  • Manage turnaround time of agencies for misconduct and poor performance reported against 3rd party agency employees.
  • Handling grievances raised by employees, escalate and resolve it.
  • Updating the IR database, keeping accurate records and periodically reporting IR matters.

Your Merits: (these are must haves in terms of qualifications & experience & specific technical /professionals skills that you want from the applicant)

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Social Science or any other related discipline.
  • At least 2-3 years of working experience in Industrial Relations or legal services (If you are a fresh graduate with interest in Industrial Relations or have 1 year of working experience in Industrial Relations, legal or HR, we would also be keen to explore the role with you.)
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian Labour Law including Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, managing poor performance, misconduct in employment, employee grievances,  formulating Industrial Relations policies and procedures, disciplinary inquiry, disciplinary action, conducting domestic inquiries, preliminary investigations and handling.
  • Strong analytical, drafting and presentation skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language .
  • Good administrative skills mainly in keeping records, preparing reports and updating database.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Office-Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
