Data Protection Officer
About the Role
We’re excited. We’re looking for a privacy guru who can effectively design, implement and deliver – on an ongoing basis – a successful customer-friendly business-relevant compliance framework.

This role sits within the General Counsel’s office, comprising Legal, Company Secretarial, Risk & Assurance. Our team is highly regarded throughout WorldRemit; working together, let’s keep it that way.
Responsibilities
- Horizon-scanning on privacy topics and ensuring business readiness
- Leading the creation and ongoing review of data-related policies and standards, and on their effective implementation
- Ensuring business compliance with applicable data privacy law, including by implementing appropriate monitoring and reporting structures
- Manage any privacy breaches, working to identify root causes, mitigate risks and prevent reoccurrence
- Privacy compliance assessment and advice on the day to day and on strategic projects, including for product launches, product development and geographic expansion
- Working with internal stakeholders (such as Information Security, Product, Technology. Commercial and Operations) to deliver against agreed programmes and troubleshoot problems
- Leading privacy-related education and training initiatives
- Building and managing relationships with external stakeholders, including data regulators
- Contribution to team development, scaling, efficiency and improvement
Experience & attributes
- Demonstrated experience in running privacy compliance programmes
- Evidence of being a subject matter expert, brining strong technical skills, a quick mind and the ability to assess and understand the business impact of privacy regulation and practice, including on customers, operations and products
- Privacy or legal qualifications are a plus
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can juggle priorities
- User friendly, and enjoys building good and lasting relationships
- Ability to successfully balance being a team player and working alone
- Ability to deal with large amounts of information efficiently and effectively
- Responsible, conscientious, proactive, motivated and a problem-solver
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Willingness to learn and share learnings
