Job Description
Hyko is looking for a talented Senior Game Artist / UI Designer to join our Product team in the Amsterdam office.
Hyko builds award-winning connected device with app ecosystem for children ages 0 to 12 to learn about climate change and smart energy use through sustainable living. Hyko is one of Amsterdam fastest growing tech startups. Hyko is revolutionising and democratising energy education, hands-on learning, and the way people think about technology and energy.
As a Senior Game Artist you...
Will have a strong interest in character, game and UI design, able to use your artistic talents and the input from our UX designer to produce beautiful, fun-to-use screens and apps. You will set the creative style for every aspect of the digital toy and game.
Will design and produce amazing characters and worlds that our players become immersed in. We will look to you to produce concepts and key art for physical toys, and key frames and story boards for their back stories.
Will be working closely with Game developers and UX Designers to design, develop and produce fun and exciting visuals for a variety of media: illustrated stories, comic books, assets and backgrounds for videos and anything else we can think of to communicate our stories in a way that kids will love!
Job Requirements:
You are experienced in creating appealing characters and environments
You know what it means to make games and fun apps (bonus: targeting kids)
You can design in and for Unity game engine (Unity UI and Unity Animations).
Interest or experience in developing games with hardware in mind (smart toys, educational toys, etc)
Ability to work in a flexible, ever-changing entrepreneurial environment
Skills in animation and visual effects
2D/2.5D Portfolio demonstrating broad appeal
Game Pipeline & Development experience
Background:
5+ years of Design/Art experience
Bachelors’ degree in Graphics Design, Art or other relevant training
Understanding of Game Design and Game Mechanics
Has shipped at least 1 mobile game as a concept artist
